Barreda film explores 1992 La Plata quadruple femicide

The film ‘Barreda’, directed by Daniela Goggi, has been released on Prime Video, reaching audiences in over 240 countries and territories. The movie dramatizes the 1992 quadruple femicide committed by dentist Ricardo Barreda in La Plata, Argentina, where he murdered his wife, mother-in-law, and two daughters.

Moving away from sensationalist media portrayals, the production aims to deconstruct the horror by focusing on the systemic gender violence present in the household and restoring dignity to the victims. The script was developed by Goggi alongside Josefina Licitra, Tamara Talesnik, Juan Cavot, and Donna Tefa.

The cast features Luis Machín as the killer, supported by prominent Argentine actors including Carla Peterson, Mercedes Morán, and Maite Lanata. The film seeks to explore the family dynamics and the judicial narrative constructed by the perpetrator, offering a perspective shaped by modern social awareness regarding gender violence.
