Barrio Quarto housing project set to begin construction in 2028

Construction for the Barrio Quarto housing development is projected to begin in 2028. The project, located on land owned by the Diputación in the Cortijo de Cuarto area, is moving forward following environmental studies conducted by the Junta de Andalucía’s Ministry of Sustainability and Environment.

The environmental analysis indicates no significant obstacles to the project, though it includes recommendations such as updating floodability studies for the Guadaíra River and creating a green corridor. Sevilla Activa, the public housing company, has also integrated feedback from environmental groups and local collectives.

The development spans 164 hectares between Bellavista, the Guadaíra basin, and Fuente del Rey. It is planned to include 5,500 new homes, approximately 3,000 of which will be public or protected housing for families and young people. Additionally, the site will feature 100,000 square meters for offices and commerce, alongside 65 hectares of green spaces and service land.
