Barrister Gohar warns against rushed provincial restructuring in Pakistan
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has called for an apology from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz regarding her recent remarks on terrorism, labeling her comments as biased. Gohar emphasized that national political leadership should maintain a serious and unified stance on terrorism rather than engaging in point-scoring politics.
Addressing the potential creation of new provinces, Gohar warned against controversial or rushed legislation. He argued that dividing provinces like Sindh, Punjab, or Balochistan without public consensus and proper consultation—similar to the process of the 18th Amendment—would weaken federal unity and create complex complications for the country. He urged that such significant matters be addressed through proper parliamentary debate once a new parliament is in place.
