Barry Gibb to celebrate 80th birthday

Sir Barry Gibb, the last surviving member of the legendary disco group the Bee Gees, will celebrate his 80th birthday on September 1. Born in 1946 on the Isle of Man, Gibb rose to global fame alongside his brothers, Robin and Maurice Gibb.

The family moved to Australia in 1958, where the brothers performed in various venues before returning to the United Kingdom in 1967 to capitalize on the music scene. As a member of the Bee Gees, Gibb became iconic for his distinctive falsetto voice, which defined hits such as ‘Stayin’ Alive’, ‘Night Fever’, and ‘Tragedy’.

With over 220 million albums sold, Gibb is recognized as one of the most successful songwriters in pop history. His career has spanned decades, transitioning from early skiffle performances as The Rattlesnakes to becoming a central figure of the disco era.
