Barry Keoghan discusses creative audition methods at Alice nella Città

Irish actor Barry Keoghan shared insights into his unconventional audition processes during a masterclass at the Alice nella Città festival. Keoghan detailed how he uses creative, self-made video materials to secure major roles, such as his casting as Ringo Starr in Sam Mendes’s upcoming project, ‘The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event’. To prepare for that role, he filmed a black-and-white audition video in New York at 6:00 AM on the morning of the Met Gala.

Keoghan also discussed his work in major franchises, noting that he used specific creative approaches to land roles in Chloé Zhao’s ‘Eternals’ and Matt Reeves’s ‘The Batman’.

Additionally, Keoghan promoted his role in the film ‘Butterfly Jam’, directed by Kantemir Balagov. Set in Newark, New Jersey, the film follows a father and son navigating economic hardships. ‘Butterfly Jam’ is currently in competition at the festival and is scheduled for theatrical release in Italy on November 26 via Europictures.
