Barry Sheene replica leathers raise £3,000 for charity
A custom-made set of Barry Sheene replica leathers sold for £3,000 during the Two Wheels for Life charity auction at Silverstone. The auction took place during the British MotoGP weekend.
Created by Dainese’s ‘Custom Works’ team, the bespoke suit was commissioned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sheene winning his first 500cc World Championship in 1976. The leathers were originally made for Freddie Sheene, Barry’s son, to wear while riding his father’s historic race bikes at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The suit also features signatures from racing figures Steve Parrish and Kenny Roberts.
The winning bid was placed by Clive Parkinson, a lifelong fan of the late racer. The broader Two Wheels for Life auction event raised more than £200,000, marking a significant fundraising result for the MotoGP official charity partner.
