Barsinghausen council approves heat action plan

The Barsinghausen city council has unanimously approved a heat action plan following a motion by the Green Party. The plan aims to protect public health against increasingly frequent heatwaves.

Under the resolution, the city administration is tasked with developing specific measures based on regional guidelines from Hannover. Key components of the strategy include implementing warning systems, reducing indoor heat, and providing special attention to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, infants, and small children. The plan also addresses urban planning, such as cooling densely built areas and unsealing surfaces.

The administration is expected to present concrete implementation steps to the specialist committee in the first quarter of 2027. Additionally, 50,000 euros have been earmarked for heat protection in the 2027/28 budget.
