Barska plovidba seeks new statute and management election

Barska plovidba is scheduled for a third attempt to amend its company statute and elect a new management team during an upcoming shareholders' assembly. Previous sessions were postponed due to the failure to reach the required two-thirds majority, which has prevented the state-owned company from aligning its operations with the new Law on Business Companies.

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs, led by Filip Radulović, maintains that adopting the new statute is in the collective interest to ensure the company's continued functionality. The Ministry stated that the proposed statute is fully aligned with current legislation and European practices, noting that no objections were raised by minority shareholders within the legally prescribed deadlines. The proposal has received support from the employees' union.

Minority shareholder representative Radomir Rudanović has expressed dissatisfaction, noting that minority shareholders have faced losses for years without receiving returns, while other shareholders receive income regardless of business results. He has suggested that the state either buy out minority shares or grant them management control. The next assembly is scheduled for September 1, where the decision of minority shareholders will be critical to reaching the necessary majority.
