Bart De Wever to visit India for bilateral talks with Narendra Modi

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever is scheduled to visit India on September 3 and 4 to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This marks the first visit to India by a Belgian Prime Minister since 2006.

The two-day visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties, with discussions focused on trade, diamond industry cooperation, and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. The mission seeks to leverage the trade agreement between the EU and India to diversify international supply chains amid geopolitical instability.

During the trip, De Wever will meet with Indian industry leaders and visit the Mumbai diamond exchange to inaugurate new offices for the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (HRD Antwerp). He will be accompanied by Minister of Defense and Foreign Trade Theo Francken. The visit is expected to include the signing of several principle agreements.
