Bartın University launches 60+ Refreshment University

Bartın University (BARÜ) has launched the ‘60+ Refreshment University’ program, designed to support lifelong learning and active aging for individuals aged 60 and older. The initiative aims to integrate seniors into academic and social life through various educational tracks, including health, technology, art, culture, nature, and sports.

The program offers free training and workshops, with a limited capacity of 30 participants. Beyond academic instruction, the curriculum includes digital literacy, creative arts, and light physical activities. A core objective of the project is to foster intergenerational interaction, allowing older citizens to share their life experiences with younger students on campus.

University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya stated that the program seeks to bring seniors together with the university’s resources so they can acquire new knowledge while contributing their expertise to the younger generation. The initiative also intends to connect participants with the historical, cultural, and natural heritage of the Bartın region.
