Bartın University strengthens academic ties at ASAS 2026 in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bartın University (BARÜ) participated in the 2nd International Anatolian Academic Studies Symposium (ASAS 2026) held in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Hosted by the International Sarajevo University (IUS) and organized by the International Center for Strategic Studies (USAR), the symposium focused on the theme “The Balkans in a Changing World: Multidimensional Approaches and Interdisciplinary Perspectives.”
During the event, which included an International Rectors Meeting, the Sarajevo Higher Education Declaration was signed. This declaration aims to strengthen academic cooperation, increase joint scientific studies, and establish lasting partnerships in higher education. Key objectives include developing joint projects to transform scientific knowledge into technological value and social benefit, as well as establishing research centers, laboratories, incubation structures, and Technology Transfer Offices (TTO).
Additionally, the agreement seeks to increase academic mobility to allow researchers and academics to better understand shared historical and cultural heritage. Representing BARÜ at the symposium were Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya and Rector Advisor Dr. Özkan Avcı.
