Barton Gold completes Phase 2 drilling at South Australia's Tunkillia gold project
Barton Gold Holdings Limited has finished its Phase 2 reverse‑circulation and diamond drilling campaign at the Tunkillia gold project in South Australia. The company drilled a further 38,760 m in 311 holes, bringing total drilling for the upgrade program to 57,653 m across 520 holes when combined with Phase 1.
The work is intended to upgrade mineralisation within the optimised open pits from JORC Inferred to Indicated and Measured categories. The S1 starter pit is modelled to yield 206,000 oz of gold and 491,000 oz of silver at a cash cost of A$997 per ounce, generating over A$800 million of operating cash and repaying development costs more than twice in the first year.
A pre‑feasibility study for large‑scale production is under way, with a target release in the first quarter of calendar year 2027 and a mining lease application to follow. Managing Director Alex Scanlon said the campaign “proceeded to plan” and that “results to date have generally exceeded expectations, with positive surprises in some zones offering material upside potential.”
