Baruta conducts earthquake evacuation drill

The Baruta Mayor's Office conducted an earthquake evacuation drill that successfully evacuated 15,000 people within 30 minutes. The exercise involved 46 strategic points across the municipality, including municipal clinics, private schools, businesses, and the Mayor's Office headquarters.

Mayor Darwin González stated that the drill was a collaborative effort involving the Miranda Police, Civil Protection, the Caracas Fire Department, and the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Investigations (Funvisis). A total of 469 officials participated in the operation.

Following the drill, the Mayor announced plans to institutionalize these exercises, aiming to conduct two drills per year. This initiative follows a devastating double earthquake on June 24 that affected the Capital Region, resulting in three deaths and over 1,500 medical consultations in Baruta.
