Baruta inaugurates Río Guaire Linear Park in Colinas de Bello Monte

The Baruta Mayor's office has officially inaugurated the Río Guaire Linear Park in Colinas de Bello Monte. Spanning 1.8 kilometers between Lincoln Street and the overpass on Las Mercedes main avenue, the project aims to redistribute public space to favor pedestrians and cyclists over vehicular traffic.

Architect Elisa Silva noted that the intervention shifts the street's composition from 80% vehicular and 20% pedestrian to a more balanced 60% vehicular and 40% dedicated to other forms of mobility. The infrastructure includes smooth pavement suitable for rollerblading, skating, and cycling, alongside designated pedestrian walkways.

The project also involved environmental improvements, including the planting of approximately 150 trees such as araguaney, roble, and rosa de montaña. Mayor Darwin González has called on the community to use the space for recreation and sports while maintaining responsibility for the upkeep of the urban furniture and green areas.
