Prague to Rebuild Small Sports Hall and Add New Swimming Facility

The City of Prague is preparing a modernisation project for the Small Sports Hall at the Exhibition Grounds, coupled with the construction of a new 25‑metre swimming pool. The redevelopment aims to create a year‑round, multifunctional training centre that will serve local sports clubs, schools and the wider public.

The plan incorporates energy‑efficiency measures, using waste heat from the ice‑rink refrigeration system to warm the pool water and integrating renewable‑energy sources such as heat pumps. The upgraded complex is intended to support the upcoming Children and Youth Olympic Games in 2026 and to meet the growing demand for ice‑rinks and swimming facilities across rapidly expanding districts of Prague.

Funding is sought to prevent the ageing hall, built in 1985, from falling into disuse and to sustain Prague’s sport infrastructure for future generations of athletes and recreational users.
