Barwani students march 16 km to protest alleged casteist slurs

Hundreds of students from the Eklavya Adarsh Residential School in Jamli, Madhya Pradesh, marched approximately 16 kilometres to the Barwani district headquarters to demand redressal for unaddressed grievances.

The protesters briefly blocked the Agra-Mumbai National Highway, insisting on a direct meeting with Collector Jayati Singh. Students alleged that previous complaints had been ignored, feedback forms were destroyed, and their parents were treated disrespectfully by school administration. A primary concern raised during the march was the alleged use of casteist slurs against students.

Collector Jayati Singh met with the students to discuss their concerns in detail. In addition to addressing the allegations of discriminatory language, the students requested improved sports facilities and the expedited completion of school infrastructure.
