Bas-Saint-Laurent launches respiratory virus vaccination campaign
Santé Québec Bas-Saint-Laurent has initiated its seasonal vaccination campaign targeting respiratory viruses. Residents can schedule appointments via Clic Santé or by telephone.
Public health director Sylvain Leduc emphasized that influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations are critical for preventing severe complications, hospitalizations, and deaths. The vaccines are free and highly recommended for individuals aged 65 and older, immunocompromised persons, pregnant women, and healthcare workers.
Additionally, the campaign includes the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine. This is available free of charge to adults aged 75 and older, who may receive it alongside influenza and COVID-19 shots. The program also continues to provide RSV immunization for eligible infants and children at high risk, a measure that has demonstrated nearly 90% efficacy in preventing pediatric hospitalizations and emergency room visits.
