Multiple fires reported across Romania and Moldova

Multiple regions in Romania and Moldova are facing significant fire emergencies. In Călărași, Moldova, a large-scale landfill fire affected nearly four hectares of land and a nearby forest strip. The blaze, fueled by drought and high temperatures, required two days of intervention and was complicated by waste piles reaching 30 meters in height.

In Romania, several areas reported intense vegetation and land fires. In Dâmbovița, emergency services responded to five separate dry vegetation fires across Târgoviște, Glodeni, Fusea, Voia, and Titu. In Brăila, three major fires occurred simultaneously, destroying hectares of stubble and wooden structures.

Additionally, a persistent underground fire in the Mureș River Basin Natural Park has affected approximately 30 hectares of forest. Despite recent rainfall, the fire continues to burn beneath the soil, prompting authorities to consider artificial flooding of the Mureșul Mort branch to extinguish it.
