Basauri initiates demolition of four buildings damaged by fire

The Basauri City Council has launched a bidding process for the demolition of four buildings on Kareaga Goikoa Street. The structures, identified as numbers 1, 3, 5, and 7, were declared in a state of imminent physical ruin following a severe fire in January 2025.

A technical report indicates a risk of sudden collapse, affecting the entire structural unit. Due to the danger, the buildings have been evacuated and pedestrian traffic on the adjacent sidewalk is prohibited. While the responsibility for demolition lies with the owners, the City Council is acting subsidiarily to ensure public safety. The project is budgeted at a maximum of 470,537.81 euros, with the winning company expected to complete the work within two months. The demolition will primarily utilize mechanical machinery from the exterior to minimize risks.
