Basavaraj Shivannanavar threatens resignation over cabinet berth demand
Badami MLA Basavaraj Shivannanavar has announced his intention to resign from his position at the Forest Development Corporation if he is not inducted into the Karnataka state cabinet. Shivannanavar stated that he does not seek a chairmanship of any corporation or board and prefers a ministerial post to ensure proper regional representation for North Karnataka.
The legislator noted that former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had strongly advocated for his name to the party high command to maintain regional balance. While Shivannanavar described himself as a “disciplined soldier of the Congress party,” he clarified that if he is denied a ministerial berth, he will step down from his current corporation role to allow someone else the opportunity.
The demand comes amid broader discontent within the Congress party following the expansion of the Karnataka Cabinet, which has left several senior leaders dissatisfied with the selection process.
