Basavilbaso: Two women arrested after raid into attack on Mayor's home
Two women were arrested in Basavilbaso following a police raid connected to an investigation into an attack on the home of Mayor Hernán Besel. The incident occurred after unknown individuals threw stones at the Mayor's residence on a Friday morning, breaking several windows.
During the Sunday raid, a 44-year-old woman allegedly refused to allow officers entry and attempted to attack a policeman with a large knife, causing a cut to the officer's forearm. Her 17-year-old daughter also reportedly engaged in a physical struggle with officers while attempting to prevent the arrest. Both women were taken into custody. Authorities seized clothing, footwear, and the knife used during the confrontation as evidence.
The Forum of Mayors of Juntos por Entre Ríos issued a statement expressing strong repudiation of the attack, calling any form of violence or intimidation against institutional representatives “absolutely inadmissible.”
