Basel police investigate three violent incidents involving four injuries
Three separate violent incidents occurred in Basel over the weekend, resulting in four injuries.
The first incident took place on Saturday around 8:30 p.m. at Basel SBB station on platform 20. A verbal dispute between two men escalated when a 40-year-old Swiss man physically attacked a 42-year-old man, causing the latter to fall onto the tracks. Witnesses managed to pull the injured man back onto the platform before paramedics transported him to the hospital. Police have detained the suspect.
Two additional altercations occurred early Sunday morning on Uferstrasse. In the first, an unknown assailant attacked a 41-year-old man, causing him to fall and sustain injuries; the perpetrator fled the scene. Shortly after, around 1:45 a.m., two men—aged 21 and 23—were treated for stab wounds following a confrontation involving multiple individuals. During the medical response, bystanders reportedly struck an ambulance.
Criminal investigators are currently working to determine the motives and exact circumstances of all three incidents.
