Base's AI-driven Perpetual Futures Integration Expands Crypto Derivatives Market

Base, the Ethereum Layer‑2 built by Coinbase, launched its Model Context Protocol (MCP) on May 26, allowing AI assistants to interact with on‑chain actions. Avantis, a perpetual‑futures DEX, became the first protocol integrated with Base MCP, enabling users to query market data, manage positions and execute trades through conversational prompts while retaining explicit wallet approval for each transaction.

Separately, the U.S. CFTC approved the first regulated Bitcoin perpetual futures on May 29, clearing Coinbase and Kalshi to offer the products. The move is expected to draw institutional capital into crypto derivatives, prompting price declines in major assets such as Solana (down to $65) and Cardano (down to $0.16). The article also highlights Pepeto, a new token presale that raised over $10 million amid the market downturn, positioning it as a potential breakout candidate.

Together, these developments signal a broader push toward regulated, AI‑assisted trading infrastructure in the cryptocurrency sector.
