Bashir Hayford criticizes Ghana football development and GFA

Veteran Ghanaian football coach Bashir Hayford has raised concerns regarding the quality of players in Ghana’s juvenile national teams and the treatment of local coaches by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Addressing the struggles of youth teams to qualify for and perform in international tournaments, Hayford stated that the issue lies with the quality of available players rather than coaching ability. He noted that coaches require the right ingredients and player quality to achieve desired results.

Additionally, Hayford criticized the GFA for a perceived lack of respect toward domestic trainers. This follows statements from GFA Executive Council member Frederick Acheampong, who suggested the association had yet to identify a local coach competent enough to join the Black Stars' technical team. Hayford argued that such conclusions are disrespectful to the many experienced and competent coaches available within the country.
