Montenegro Agency for Prevention of Corruption holds training in Tivat
Representatives from the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption held a training session in the Municipality of Tivat regarding the Code of Ethics for elected officials. The training follows amendments to the Law on the Prevention of Corruption that took effect in August.
The program consisted of four modules: prevention of conflicts of interest, integrity and transparency, accountability to the public interest, and the protection of whistleblowers. It also covered the correct completion of asset declarations and cooperation with the Agency.
Karas Bošković, a representative of the Agency, noted that the legal changes expand the scope of individuals subject to these obligations. In addition to public officials and certain state employees, the requirements now extend to notaries, bailiffs, bankruptcy administrators, and individuals involved in public procurement processes. The law also now recognizes perceived conflicts of interest, which are situations that may create the impression of a conflict between private and public interests.
