Basilica Palladiana to host Italy-Germany art exhibition

The Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza will host the exhibition ‘Italia Germania. Pittura e Scultura tra Ottocento e Novecento. Da Canova a Kiefer’ starting November 13, 2026. This event serves as the first installment of a three-year project titled ‘Ispirazione Europa’ (European Inspiration).

The exhibition aims to use art as a tool for cultural diplomacy, highlighting the mutual artistic influences between Italy and Germany, as well as Italy's connections with France and Spain. The project explores how the experiences of 19th and 20th-century artists and intellectuals helped shape a shared European identity prior to political unification.

Curated by Gabriella Belli and Valerio Terraroli, the exhibition will run until May 2, 2027. It is organized by Marsilio Arte in collaboration with the Centro Internazionale di Studi di Architettura Andrea Palladio and the Fondazione Teatro Comunale Città di Vicenza, with Intesa Sanpaolo serving as the main partner. The showcase will feature approximately one hundred works, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, and documents.
