Basilicata expands network of Family Centers for social innovation

The Basilicata Region is working to establish an extensive network of Family Centers to serve as hubs for social innovation and territorial development. During a meeting organized by the Forum of Family Associations of Basilicata, regional official Cosimo Latronico emphasized the goal of moving beyond emergency-based assistance toward systematic, collaborative policies involving institutions, the third sector, and citizens.

Supported by approximately 2.8 million euros allocated since 2018 from the Family Policy Fund established by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the initiative aims to ensure the presence of these centers across all nine socio-territorial areas of Basilicata, as well as within the health authorities of Potenza and Matera. The centers are intended to integrate with family counseling services and focus on priority areas such as parenting support, intergenerational exchange, active aging, and the prevention of social fragility.
