Basilicata honors September 11 victims John and Lisa Di Fato

On the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, Daniele Manca, the regional commissioner of the Democratic Party in Basilicata, issued a statement honoring the victims and emphasizing the importance of memory.

Manca specifically highlighted the connection between the Basilicata region and the tragedy through John and Lisa Di Fato, two Italian-American siblings aged 39 and 30. The siblings, children of emigrants from San Mauro Forte in the province of Matera, were among the victims at the World Trade Center.

The statement noted that the Di Fato siblings' story represents the history of Lucanian emigration and the contributions made by Italian communities to American society. Manca called for the memory of the victims to serve as a daily commitment against terrorism, hatred, and fanaticism in the pursuit of democracy and peace.
