Basilicata infrastructure plans focus on transport and logistics connectivity
During the “Sulle rotte dello sviluppo” conference in Matera, regional leaders and infrastructure officials outlined major investment plans to enhance connectivity and competitiveness in Basilicata. Regional President Vito Bardi emphasized that efficient infrastructure is a vital component of industrial policy, essential for attracting investment and supporting businesses.
Key railway projects include the restoration of the Frecciarossa service, upgrades to the Battipaglia-Potenza and Foggia-Potenza lines, and the expected completion of the Ferrandina-Matera line by 2028. Additionally, efforts are underway to upgrade the “Enrico Mattei” airfield in Pisticci to support general aviation and night operations.
Anas CEO Claudio Andrea Gemme detailed the company’s 2026-2035 industrial plan, which includes a total of 43.2 billion euros in investments. Within Basilicata, Anas manages over 1,000 kilometers of road network and is implementing maintenance and expansion plans to leverage the region’s strategic position as a logistics hub between the Tyrrhenian and Ionian seas.
