The Basilicata region is targeting 2028 for the completion and activation of major transportation upgrades, including the Ferrandina-Matera railway line and the electrification of the Potenza-Foggia line. According to the regional observatory for construction and public works, significant investments are already underway.
For the Ferrandina-Matera line, contracts have been signed for a viaduct toward Metaponto valued at 27 million euros. Additionally, 26 million euros are allocated for the Capraia 2 tunnel on the Potenza-Foggia route, with the executive project expected within weeks.
Road infrastructure projects are also progressing, including work on the Salerno-Potenza-Bari axis and the Matera bypass for State Road 7. Other planned works include the Maratea bypass on State Road 18, with a target of 2027 for the Castrocucco tunnel. Water infrastructure is also receiving funding, including 113 million euros for the Rendina dam and 20 million euros from the PNRR for the Acerenza-Genzano pipeline.
