Basilicata invests 3.4 million euros in vocational training

The Basilicata region has approved investments exceeding 3.4 million euros to establish two new ITS Academies. This initiative aims to combat youth emigration by strengthening the link between professional training, innovation, and the local labor market.

Francesco Cupparo, the regional assessor for economic development and labor, announced that the funding will be split equally, with 1,731,764 euros allocated to the ITS Academy for Innovative Technologies for Cultural Goods and Tourism, and another 1,731,764 euros for the ITS Academy of the Agri-food System. These programs are designed to run through the 2026-2029 triennium.

The academies serve as a tertiary professional training alternative to traditional universities, focusing on skills directly requested by the production sector. This move addresses a significant gap in the region, where local companies report that over 45 percent struggle to find specific professional profiles.
