Basilicata launches 11 million euro integrated transport ticketing system

The Basilicata region has launched the Regional Electronic Ticketing, Monitoring, and Supervision System (SMSR) to integrate local public transport. Supported by an 11 million euro public-private partnership, the project aims to reduce fragmentation between different transport operators.

Users will be able to purchase tickets via a web portal or mobile app and pay using contactless methods such as credit cards, smartphones, or smartwatches. The system is designed to calculate the ‘best fare’ automatically, applying daily, weekly, or monthly spending caps. The digital ticket will be multi-channel and valid across different operators, including future integration with regional rail services.
