Basilicata project launches artistic residencies in local villages

The “Basilicata Paesaggio Umano Sostenibile” (BPUS) project has launched an open call titled “Di chi sono le case vuote” to promote sustainable development in northwestern Basilicata. The initiative aims to transform the villages of Sasso di Castalda, Baragiano, and Muro Lucano into creative laboratories through artistic residencies.

Scheduled for September and October 2026, the 14-day residencies will focus on specific local crafts: ceramics in Baragiano, textiles in Sasso di Castalda, and woodworking in Muro Lucano. The program is open to various disciplines, including visual arts, sculpture, design, photography, and performance, seeking to create a dialogue between contemporary art and local heritage.
