Basilicata promotes cultural and itinerant tourism

The Basilicata region is implementing various strategies to bolster its cultural and tourism sectors. In Potenza, the exhibition ‘Caravaggio. Narciso. Il mito di un capolavoro’ has opened at the Museo Archeologico Provinciale. Running from September 10 to November 30, 2026, the exhibition centers on Caravaggio’s famous painting and is viewed by regional officials as a significant driver for both cultural knowledge and international tourism.

Simultaneously, the region is targeting the growing outdoor travel market. APT Basilicata is participating in the Salone del Camper in Parma to promote regional heritage, villages, and nature to travelers using recreational vehicles. This initiative aims to distribute tourist presence more evenly throughout the year and highlight lesser-known destinations. The region currently offers 53 stopping areas and camping village pitches to support this itinerant tourism segment.
