Basilicata Region reviews 2026-2028 budget adjustment bill

The Basilicata Regional Council is examining a budget adjustment bill for the 2026-2028 forecast period. Regional President Vito Bardi described the measure as an essentially technical act intended to adjust budgets and prevent the loss of existing resources, rather than a new financial policy maneuver or an introduction of new spending.

The adjustment includes the registration of an additional 18.5 million euros from the 2025 administration surplus, bringing the total to approximately 241 million euros. This step is required to make existing regional assets immediately available for use. The bill also introduces compensatory variations between different missions and programs to align allocations with the administration's operational needs.

A primary goal of the measure is to safeguard European and national funds. Specifically, the approval aims to ensure the full utilization of resources and prevent defunding, particularly regarding the Complementary Operational Program (POC), which requires funds to be spent by December 31, 2026. The plan also includes financial coverage for forestry sector activities.
