Basilicata regional council debates infrastructure and waste management

The Basilicata Regional Council held discussions regarding significant infrastructure and transportation developments. Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (Rfi) has confirmed intentions to proceed with the design phase for a high-speed rail link on the Romagnano-Tito-Potenza route. This project is part of the broader Battipaglia-Potenza-Metaponto-Taranto corridor investments, which include ongoing work to upgrade stations and increase line speeds, such as the Salandra-Ferrandina section.

In Matera, the FIT-CISL Basilicata union has engaged with municipal authorities regarding the upcoming waste management service tender. The union is requesting specific safety and technical upgrades for new door-to-door collection vehicles, including specialized discharge mechanisms and easier access cabins. Additionally, the union is advocating for two-person collection teams to prevent injuries and suggesting a proximity collection model for the Sassi district to address logistical challenges posed by the area's historic terrain.
