Basilika Gymnasium to remain closed due to ceiling repairs

The Basilika Gymnasium in Thermi will remain closed until Friday, October 30, as restoration work and safety inspections continue. The closure follows an incident where a section of plaster fell from a classroom ceiling, resulting in an injury to a student.

As a precautionary measure, the Municipality of Thermi has decided to strip the plaster from all classrooms and corridors to prevent similar occurrences. Extensive work is being carried out by multiple teams to ensure the safety of students and teachers. The school is expected to reopen on Monday, November 2.
