Basketball Federation of Serbia holds league talks and confirms new pro contract

The Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS) has announced that player Vukašin Kovačević signed his first professional contract with KK Spartak Subotica on September 16, 2025. Under KSS registration rules, clubs involved in the player's development are entitled to compensation, with deadlines for these claims beginning from the contract's publication on the KSS website on September 25, 2026.

Separately, the KSS held meetings on September 22 and 24, 2026, with representatives from the Association of Clubs of the Serbian Basketball League (UK KLS). The discussions focused on organizing and managing the First Men's Basketball League of Serbia in accordance with the Law on Sport. The KSS stated that its goal is to entrust the organization of the competition to the clubs while ensuring legal compliance. This follows the KSS decision in August 2026 to terminate a previous agreement with the UK KLS that was deemed inconsistent with sports legislation. The KSS has proposed a temporary agreement to facilitate further negotiations for a permanent, lawful contract.
