Basketball leagues announce 2026 season structures in Venezuela and Argentina

The Venezuelan Superior Basketball League (LSB) has announced its conference structure for the 2026 season, which is scheduled to begin on September 25. To minimize travel costs and logistical challenges, the 10 participating teams will be divided into two groups: the Centro-Oriental Conference and the Centro-Occidental Conference.

The Centro-Oriental Conference will include Marinos de Anzoátegui, Guaiqueríes de Margarita, Spartans Distrito Capital, Piratas de La Guaira, and Hidrocarburos de Caracas. The Centro-Occidental Conference will consist of Gaiteros del Zulia, Cocodrilos de Caracas, Trotamundos de Carabobo, Pioneros del Ávila, and Costaneros de Puerto Cabello.

In Argentina, the 2026 PreFederal basketball tournament is preparing for its upcoming season as a pathway to the 2027 Liga Federal. Key roster updates include the return of Franco Pennacchiotti to Centro Español and a new squad for Atlético Regina. The opening round of matches is scheduled for the weekend of September 11-13, featuring several local derbies including Pacífico vs. Independiente and Deportivo Roca vs. Atlético Regina.
