Basketball tournaments launch in Congo and Senegal

In Brazzaville, Congo, the Henri-Elendé gymnasium hosted the opening day of the Zone 4 qualifying tournaments for the Road to BAL 2027 and the FIBA Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBLA).

In the women's WBLA competition, BC CNSS from the DRC secured a dominant 106-28 victory over Interclub. Additionally, BC Hatari from the DRC defeated Anges Noirs BC of Congo 93-33, while Cameroon's FAP defeated Gabon's Charbo Squad 65-49.

In Senegal, Somone Basket Club (SOBAC) and AS Police have secured promotion to the first division following the semi-finals of the promotion tournament in Dakar. SOBAC earned its first-ever promotion by defeating UCAD SC 52-47, while AS Police advanced after a 47-25 win against AS Gorée. The two clubs will face each other in the tournament final this Saturday at the Marius Ndiaye stadium.
