Baskil ferry pier modernization urged by Yeni Parti official

Kemal Zeki Arslan, the Baskil District Chairman of the Yeni Parti, has called for the modernization of the ferry pier infrastructure connecting Baskil and the Battalgazi district of Malatya. He emphasized that the ferry line is a strategic route for trade, health, education, and social life between the two regions.

Arslan highlighted safety concerns following an incident in August where a storm caused a ferry to run aground, necessitating passenger evacuation. He urged the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, along with relevant authorities in Elazığ and Malatya, to assess the technical adequacy of the piers and improve docking safety to prevent future accidents.

Additionally, Arslan requested that ferry schedules be reorganized to better meet the needs of workers, students, and patients. He advocated for more predictable service and the consideration of extra trips during peak periods to alleviate the difficulties caused by limited current operating hours.
