Baskonia appoints Velimir Perasovic as new head coach

Baskonia has officially introduced Velimir Perasovic as its new head coach, marking his fourth stint with the Vitoria-based club. Perasovic succeeds Paolo Galbiati, who was dismissed in early October following a breakdown in the relationship between the coach and the organization.

Baskonia's sporting director, Felix Fernandez, addressed the circumstances surrounding Galbiati's departure, citing disagreements regarding contract extensions and professional conduct. Fernandez noted that Galbiati and his agent sought improved economic conditions and contract terms that the club felt were not appropriate given the timing.

During his introductory press conference, Perasovic expressed his commitment to the club and his desire to improve the team's performance in the EuroLeague, where Baskonia currently sits at the bottom of the standings. He also commented on the potential of Slovenian player Stefan Joksimovic, describing him as an exceptionally talented player whose future likely lies in the NBA.
