Olympiacos defeats Baskonia 106-89 in EuroLeague opener
Olympiacos opened their EuroLeague season with a dominant 106-89 away victory against Baskonia in Vitoria. Despite an early deficit where Baskonia led by eight points following a flurry of three-pointers, the reigning European champions regained control through superior offensive execution and defensive adjustments.
Tyler Dorsey led the scoring with 25 points, while Sasha Vezenkov contributed 22 points in just 19 minutes of play. Other key performers included Jan Muntero with 15 points and Taarik Jones, who recorded a double-double with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Coach Georgios Bartzokas noted that while the team is still building chemistry and lacks extensive training time, their athleticism and ability to find scoring even during defensive lapses were crucial to the win.
Olympiacos set a record for points scored in an away game, finishing with a 67% success rate on two-point shots. The team now prepares for their next EuroLeague fixture against Zalgiris Kaunas.
