Jon Urresti named PNV candidate for Gasteiz Mayoralty

The PNV has proposed Jon Urresti, the current president of Fundación Vital, as its candidate for the Mayoralty of Gasteiz in the May 2027 municipal elections. Urresti, 59, is a political science and sociology graduate who has not previously held public office or run for election. His candidacy follows the decision of current deputy mayor Beatriz Artolazabal not to seek reelection, as she intends to run for the Senate.

In Biriatu, Odile Susperregui Cornu has been re-elected as mayor following repeat municipal elections. Running with the Biriatun Bizi list, she secured 62.97% of the vote with 420 ballots, significantly increasing her margin over challenger Elur Alberdik, who received 37.03%. The repeat vote was necessitated by the annulment of the March elections.
