Basque Government allocates €250,000 to UNDP program in Havana

The Basque Government has approved a direct grant of €250,000 to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for work in Cuba. The funding will support the implementation and monitoring of the Havana Provincial Development Strategy, a roadmap that aims to transform the capital into a smart, inclusive and resilient territory and to link the project with the South Network of Territories promoting the localization of the 2030 Agenda.

The agreement, part of the 2024‑2028 Government Plan, represents the first time the Basque external‑action agency channels aid through a multilateral institution rather than via local Basque entities. It involves the Secretariat of External Action and Euskadi Global, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment (MINCEX), and a coalition of local NGOs, universities and businesses that could contribute to the city's transformation.
