Basque Government invests in agrifood and timber innovation
The Basque Government is advancing innovation in the agrifood and timber sectors through new funding and technical demonstrations. Under the Ikerbat program, 2.7 million euros will be allocated to support research, development, and innovation for 2026. This funding is divided into five lines, including 1.4 million euros for R&D projects related to food, wood, and bioeconomy, as well as funds for knowledge dissemination and process modernization.
In support of the Strategic Plan for potato production in Euskadi, Neiker is organizing technical sessions to showcase field advancements. These demonstrations include the use of drones for phytosanitary applications via the DRONSafe project, which aims to modernize agricultural practices and reduce worker exposure to chemical treatments. The initiative includes drone flight demonstrations and spraying system exhibitions to integrate new technologies into the local agricultural sector.
