Basque police arrest two individuals for terrorism-related offenses

The Ertzaintza, the Basque police force, arrested two individuals during a routine vehicle check in Eskoriatza in the early hours of September 26. The operation led to the discovery of sensitive material that has since been handed over to the Audiencia Nacional.

Following the investigation, a judge from the Audiencia Nacional ordered the provisional imprisonment of the detainees on terrorism-related charges. Bingen Zupiria, the Basque Government's Counselor of Security, stated that while the existence of dissident groups was anticipated, the specific discovery of the sensitive material was unexpected.

The case involves potential links to dissident groups that may have rejected the decision of ETA to cease violence. These groups are reportedly organized around specific individuals currently in prison who continue to promote their ideology.
