Basque political groups organize protests and sovereignty rallies

Political movements in the Basque Country are organizing demonstrations and celebrations centered on sovereignty and opposition to the far-right. In Donostia/San Sebastián, the youth collective Ernai, affiliated with EH Bildu, has announced a protest against what it describes as fascism associated with Spanish flags. The march is supported by various cultural figures and aims to increase national consciousness.

Simultaneously, the group Aske will hold a separate demonstration in the same location calling for the release and amnesty of ETA prisoners.

In a separate development, the party Eusko Alkartasuna (EA) has announced it will celebrate its 40th anniversary in Pasai Donibane. The party's secretary general, Eba Blanco, framed the creation of a Basque State as a necessary barrier against the rise of far-right movements in Spain and Europe, citing the need for political status negotiations to counter perceived threats to collective rights.
