Basque political parties finalize candidate lists and coalitions

EH Bildu has conducted internal consultations for its 2027 municipal and regional candidates. Most candidates received high levels of support from the party membership. Joseba Asiron, the mayor of Pamplona, received 100% support, while Laura Aznal in Navarra achieved 98.29%. In Bilbao, María del Río received 91% support, marking the highest level of opposition among the eight main candidates. Other notable figures include Eva López de Arroyabe in Álava (98.82%) and Nerea Kortajarena in Donostia (97.01%).

In Navarra, the Geroa Bai coalition has ratified its partnership with the PNV for the next four years. Uxue Barkos will continue as the candidate for the regional elections. The coalition, which includes Barkos’s party, Geroa Social Verdes en Europa, and the Atarrabia Taldea group, aims to maintain its influence in the region despite recent electoral declines.
