Bassa Romagna councilors call for expanded security conference amid rising crime

Councilor Matteo Parrucci of the Unione della Bassa Romagna asked the regional council to convene an enlarged Conference of Group Leaders to address public safety concerns. He highlighted a series of recent incidents – a street fight in the centre of Lugo, an armed robbery in Sant’Agata sul Santerno, a taser‑involved disturbance in Alfonsine and frequent episodes in Massa Lombarda – and noted that even towns such as Fusignano feel growing insecurity.

President Elena Zannoni responded verbally in the council chamber, saying there should be no obstacle to organising the meeting promptly. Parrucci stressed that the conference should document the situation, coordinate local forces and provide a comprehensive response for the whole union of municipalities, ensuring residents can live safely in their city centres.
